This is one of those slippery slopes that Christians should beware of. Honestly, it's amazing how Christians justify how they spend their time and their money in the name of "entertainment". I am amazed atthe number of fellow Christians who are addicted to being entertained - by movie, TV series, or even Facebook. I can barely find time to get to my emails each week, but then I am busy serving my family, church and friends.
I believe that our teens blush at nothing anymore and they can watch sex, violence and listen to profanity without flinching.
I believe that Oprah and Soap Operas are as dangerous for us as the R rated movies.
Isn't it a shame that if it wasn't for Disney, we wouldn't have much in the way of G rated movies?
There are Christian movie companies popping up. Check out Adventfilmgroup.com and a movie called "Come What May". And, of course, the Kendrick Bros. "Fireproof".
God has called us to be Holy - set apart - as He is Holy. Try spending that money or time doing something fun with your family. Or ask your Pastor if there is something needed for the church or church family.
You are right, Steve, about the apathy in the church. It's suffocating at times. Maybe that 2 hours at the movies could be spent in prayer for the church in America. We could sure use it!
