Should Christians take government "handouts"?

Welfare. Unemployment. Health Insurance.

Surely it's ok for a Christian to get some help from the government...or is it? What if I lost my job? What if I can't afford health insurance? Is it ever OK for a Christian to live off of others?

Joel Osteen "Pastors" the biggest "church" in America...40,000 people flock there every weekend and over 7,000,000 watch him on television...his books sell like hotcakes and people seem to love the guy....but I wonder what Jesus would say to Joel Osteen?

Good job? Nice work? Great church? Quit misleading people? Do you even know what My Word says? What are you afraid of? Depart from Me?

Why don't we study the Bible more?

We all know it's the right thing to do...we all know that it is beneficial...we all know that God wants us to...so why don't we study the Bible more?

I'm discussing this topic today with my friend Steve Wiggins of Harvest Christian Fellowship. Steve led the amazingly successful Christian group Big Tent Revival back in the 90's and is a five-time Grammy Award nominee. Steve leads The Living Room Study, a public Bible study that meets in coffee houses all over L.A. and promotes a "chapter-a-day" rreading of the Bible. Why did Jesus come into the world? To save sinners? To seek that which was lost? To reconcile man to God? He actually answered this exact question when he stood before Pontius Pilate...

Sould Christians do the Santa thing?

Is it just a harmless "white lie" or could it be something more serious? It amazes me how far most of us will go in rationalizing this clear violation of God's 9th Commandment! Am I taking this Christian thing to far? Do you think God cares if we lie to our kids and go out of our way to convince them of the lie?

As a former Santa follower I understand why most people do it...but that doesn't make it right. My wife and I are more concerned with God's opinion of our actions than with anybody else's, including our own children.

Screwtape Episode 3: Church-hopping & Falling in Love!

WOW! A few body blows to us Christians from Screwtape! He wants us to "church-hop" and become consumers instead of pupils - which one are you? When it comes to marriage, do we crave the emotional highs of "being in love" or are we willing to just be selfless and serve one another? Screwtape puts it this way:

"The good of oneself is to be the good of another. This impossibility He calls...love."
