If there is no pre-determined path, then how do we know which way we should go?

Spiritual Smarts 101!

Almost all of God's will for your life is revealed in Scripture (see 1 Thes 4:3, 1 Thes 5:16-18, Col 1:9b-10, Luke 10:27)
WISDOM is really what you need to navigate your life!
Step 1: The Moral Component! Consider the moral component of any decision or option - does it violate Scripture in any way? Would it hurt your family or your witness? Would it impeded your sanctification?
Step 2: Prayer & Fasting! Ask God for wisdom according to James 1:5 so you can evaluate all the details as well as your own heart. Fasting wil help you FOCUS!
Step 3: Godly Counsel Proverbs 1:5, 12:15, 15:22 and 19:20 make this clear! Seek out the older and wiser and humble yourself to ask them for help.
Step 4: Kingdom Investment! Matthew 6:33 commands us to seek His Kingdom first! Which option yoield the most spiritual fruit?
Step 5: Consider Your DNA! God has crafted you with certain gifts and abilities. Which option suits your DNA?
Step 6: Trust God & Be Willing to Risk! Philippians 2:13 reminds us that God is working in us for His good pleasure! Not every good decision is an easy one or leads to the easy path. God can always pick up the pieces!

In the end, its all about walking closely with Him so that as you mature in the faith, making the right choices becomes a natural result of how well you know God and His Word!

Matthew 9:36-38

When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is pl...entiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.”

When you watch the news, how do you react to the people who are most unlike you? Maybe it's members of the other political party, or a different religion, or people who have more than you or perhaps, less. Maybe it's the Hollywood star or the rich corporate executive or the degenerate criminal. Odds are good that most of us look at them with a bit of contempt, to say the least.

C.S. Lewis once said, "There are no ordinary people. You have never talked to a mere mortal. Nations, cultures, arts, civilization—these are mortal, and their life is to ours as the life of a gnat. But it is immortals whom we joke with, work with, marry, snub, and exploit—immortal horrors or everlasting splendors.”

I used to look out at the lost and/or "Liberal" masses and say, "Ahhh, to hell with them." Jesus looks at the same group and has compassion on them…and in some translations, it says "He wept." When was the last time you wept for the lost?

Jesus always has compassion for the lost because He knows the harsh reality of their condition and because He actually loves them. They are like lost sheep, and lost sheep do stupid things and get themselves hurt and into trouble. In effect, the world is a crime scene full of victims…some wounds are self-inflicted while others have been caused by another person or perhaps the work of Satan and his demons.

"The harvest is plentiful," Jesus says…"but the workers are few."

We are supposed to be the workers, of course, and for most of us the "harvest field" may be full of people we don't particularly like. Our "dislike" is the opposite of our Lord's "compassion" and it's a sin. So the next time you come face-to-face with the harvest field, please remember:

You have never met a mere mortal.

And…

You are called to be a worker, so work!

What are so many of us WIMPS when it comes to our faith? Wimpy Pastors afraid to preach a hard message...Wimpy Leaders afraid to engage the culture...Wimpy Church members afraid to share their faith or stand up for God's Truth.
