Should Obama be a One Term President? (OTP)

Posted on Thursday, Mar 25th, 2010 at 9:40pm by SteveNoble

Should Obama be a one term President?  My buddy Molotov Mitchell created an incredible conservative rap video for a friend of mine...OTP (watch it at www.onetermpresident.net).
Watch it and then tell me...

Should Obama be an OTP?  Why or Why not?

Constitutional he shouldn't

Constitutional he shouldn't be able to finish the current term! Crap, we still haven't seen this jokers birth certificate

OTP

All independents, tea party activists and Republicans - everyone who calls themselves a conservative - most band together and defeat the Democrats in November. First we win back the House & Senate - then defeat Obama in 2012. But we gotta stop the nonsense in 2010 and then focus on OTP.

OTP

Obama is the worst thing that America has ever KNOWN. He is a silver tongued snake. We tried to tell everyone that this man is a nut and Pelosi, Reid, and Waxman, along with alot of others, have torn America apart but what puzzles me is there are still people in America that believe they are great. WE HAVE A BUNCH OF IDIOTS IN THE WHITE HOUSE, WAKE UP AMERICA. WE HAVE A BUNCH OF IDIOTS IN ALL LEVELS OF POLITICS FROM MAYORS TO GOVERNORS TO THE PRESIDENT OF THE U.S.A. WE MUST REACT AND DETHRONE THEM AT ELECTION TIME OR AMERICA IS GOING DOWN. AMERICA IS THE GREATEST NATION IN THE WORLD BUT THE PEOPLE IN CHARGE OF HER ARE TAKING US DOWN THE TUBES. TRUST IN GOD, PRAYER IS THE GREATEST WEAPON EVER KNOWN TO MAN. ONE TERM PRESIDENT AND ONE TERM EVERYONE THAT IS IN OFFICE NOW. LET'S GET THEM OUT OF OFFICE AND START OVER, WE ARE THE BOSS, NOT THEM.

He should never had been a 1

He should never had been a 1 term president in the first place. I did my part to keep him out. Pray that he is a ONE TERM PRESIDENT,but there are still some flakes out there.

I can not believe the

I can not believe the comments that I just read from "so called" Christians. What is the difference in Obama and Bush. How dare you that call your selves Christians say such negative things. what about the scriptures that says we should pray for those who have the rule over us, what about the scriptures that says pray for our rulers. Is is Christ like to call people idiots? Do you believe that what you are doing is in the name of Christ? Christ died for Obama just like He did for you. Please know that HATRED is a sin even if it disquised as a republican.

I agree with you

Now a Christian is talking. I am amazed to read what the Christian of Americas are saying and how they are saying it. Where is grace? Where is the perfect President? Yes Jesus and His government is the only answer. Let us Christians be "read" of man that we carry the grace and presence of Jesus and pray for our leaders, presidents, bosses, pastors etc

protest but no prayer?

Any Christian that engages the political realm but neglects to pray for those in control is just a loud-mouthed sinner. Do you really think God will bless your "efforts" when you won't obey His command to pray for those in authority? I have never advocated leaving the battlefield of Truth in the public domain, but to do so only in the flesh is a waste of time, a bad witness, and grieves the Holy Spirit. The Disciples did not stay in the Upper Room and pray the Gospel into the world...they went OUT and engaged with Truth & Love. We need to do the same.

The difference

The difference between Bush and Obama is that Bush is a born again Christian and Obama is... well he is not. That means that Obama needs our prayers for his salvation (imagine his reborn testimony), but that is the only reason I pray for him. He is a lost soul decieved by the devil himself and is turnng our country to a mockery(sp?) of what our founding fathers envisioned. I am required to love and pray for his soul, I am not required to like his actions nor am I called to put up with them. I am called on by my own Love of this country and freedom itself to do anything in my power to stop him. Thus my vote and my words are against him and his cronies. As I hate the sin but not the sinner so I respect the office but not the person holding it.

For the first Anonymous

For the first Anonymous poster and anyone who else who doesn’t think the president is a natural citizen of the United States, how do you explain the birth of Barak Obama being announced in two Hawaiian newspapers? What kind of elaborate conspiracy theory do you have for that may I ask? Did Obama’s mother think her son may become president one day and stick a phony birth notice in some American Newspapers just in case?

Kathryn, the conservatives already banded together in the last election and got stomped. The conservatives have to find a way to get moderate voters to vote Republican the way the liberals got them to vote Democratic in 2008. That’s how it works. They aren’t going to do that by threatening to de-fund the new health care legislation if they gain control of Congress or without coming up with some viable candidates.

“Me” while you and other conservatives are praying that Barak Obama is a one-term president, an equal or greater number of Christians are praying and will be praying in the next presidential election that Obama gets reelected. Millions of American Christians thanked God for the health care legislation that Congress just passed. Millions of others blamed the devil for it. Epicurus said: “If God listened to the prayers of men, all men would quickly have perished: for they are forever praying for evil against one another.” You might tell me that God knows whose prayers to listen to and/or answer but since God supposedly already knows what’s going to happen anyway, why pray about something like the president not getting reelected at all? Isn’t prayer supposed to be about you doing something for God rather then him doing something for you?

For the Anonymous poster who cannot believe the unkind and intolerant comments they read from “so-called” Christians, I agree it is rather disingenuous to claim to be a born again Christian and make comments like that. However if being a Christian automatically made one a good person Steve Noble wouldn’t have a radio program to remind people that it doesn’t. You never see that kind of rhetoric coming from secular humanists nor do I hear it from any of my Christian friends. These Christians are a minority among Christians but they are a very loud and vocal minority and for many people they do seem to represent the entire Christian religion. Obviously these people are highly upset but what are they upset about exactly? They make very sweeping comments about the president ruining the country but don’t tell us exactly how he is doing this but are always very anxious to tell us all why he’s ruining the country. When people express this kind of rage without specific legitimate complaints I’m highly suspicious of their motives. Now I’m very disappointed in the president for not keeping his promise about getting our troops out of Afghanistan and Iraq. Unless I see some specific legitimate complaints like the ones I just made about the current administration I’m going to continue to think the worst about people who bash the president and don’t tells us exactly WHY they are doing this. Just pointing to the current health care legislation is not good enough. We need to know exactly what’s wrong with this legislation and everything else the president is doing.

my thoughts...

On the first paragraph...I'm not concerned with his citizenship. On the second paragraph, I'm with you for the most part. On the third, if there are some true, born-again Christians that want Obama re-elected then they can't back it up via Scripture. He is far too off-base with respect to Scripture...so they are either favoring based on skin color or their own perceived financial self-interest. The purpose of prayer to to get your will in line with God's - not vice versa. On the fourth paragraph, I agree that far too many people, on both sides of the aisle, take their stands without the ability to clearly explain why. Most tend to follow the crowd that seems to align with their personal beliefs and our self-interest. Yelling "kill the bill" without being able to explain why is just as foolish as those who wanted it passed because it's the "Christian thing to do". See...Boris the Awesome Atheist and I can agree on things from time to time! There is no atheistic or Christian monopoly on good clear common sense.

"hot lead" Proud of

"hot lead"

Proud of yourself, Steve Noble?

huh?

Are you implying that I agreed with the caller that said that...or perhaps that I incited him to say that? In either case, I had nothing to do with his irresponsible rhetoric. If he is a Christian, he needs to study the book a bit more...if he isn't, he needs to become one and then study the book. Murder is against God's Law and we are to leave room for His vengeance. Obama, as well as everybody else, will answer to God one day.

Dude, it was YOUR radio

Dude, it was YOUR radio program! How can you say you had nothing to do with it?

Get real!

rhetoric without reason

Please explain to me who I influenced that guy to make a snide remark about killing the President? How would YOU suggest that I "control" the thoughts and words of my audience? Am I a racist or a radical for disapproving of our President's policies? Is my disapproval leading people to give serious consideration to murder and mayhem? You can't just throw outrageous comments about without backing them up with facts.

Why are you so defensive? A

Why are you so defensive? A caller to your radio program made an out of line comment after listening to you. You can't deny that. I would be ashamed of myself if I was you.

Or did you think your provocative ranting would inspire the more kinder and gentler callers?

Badly done, Steve Noble.

Defensive?

I'm dealing with your charges, anonymous...just carrying on a conversation. Believe me - I'm not losing any sleep over your comments and I don't feel defensive. I'm blogging with you...that's what we do on here.

I only charge you with

I only charge you with hosting a radio program during which a caller made the referred to comment.

What inspired that caller is a question for that caller to answer.

consulting

Did you consult with any African Americans in the making of this video? It doesn't seem like it. I'm not African American, but its offensive to me. Not the content, I'm all for our current President having only 1 term. However, the broken English and the reference to being 'on the street' with a semi automatic weapon seems a bit mocking to me. Just my take, maybe I'm wrong...

interesting...

Rap videos are a "form" of art, are they not? Most rap videos are performed by black artists and their use of slang/jargon and vocal inflections is far more over the top than what Molotov did. The white rappers tend to sound just like the black rappers...I look at it as a stylistic issue...country music and country singers have a certain style, as do blues, R&B, jazz, rock, punk, etc. If the style is rap...it's going to sound a certain way. I happen to know all the folks in the video and not a single one of them is a racist in any way.

Wrong Implication

I'm not implying that anyone is a racist. In fact, I'm a supporter of Called2Action! But I'm saying this as a real concern, did you actually ask any African Americans how they felt about the rap video? I've asked a couple, and all seemed to feel that the video was a bit racially insensitive and mocking. All I'm saying is you might want to consider asking because if it comes off like I've perceived it, then you're going to alienate the conservative African Americans who don't support our President but wont support this effort either. It has to do with perspective... no one is going to support a movement ( even it they agree with it ) if that very same movement insults them.

By the way, you really never answered my first question...

I didn't make the video...

I didn't make the video so no, I didn't ask black people what they thought. However, I don't think that's necessary, anyway. Does every white rapper, good or not, need to ask black people if they are offended by his or her rapping? Again, I know Molotov well and he didn't do anything to "mock" black people - he simply did his interpretation of a rap video. As far as alienating conservative black Americans...there was one of those IN the video...the actor Rob Park. He has proudly sent it out via his own conservative web site and blog. We just have to agree to disagree on this one. I have many black friends, both Pastors and laypeople, and the closer I get to them the more I find out that they are not nearly as sensitive to this subject as we think. For instance, I have asked several if they are offended by being called "black" vs. "African American"...they asked me if I was offended when referred to as a "white guy". Pretty funny. In the end - I don't see what you see on this one and I haven't gotten a single negative email from a black person...and I have reached out to thousands of folks with this video. As far as your first question... I have no idea if Molotov "consulted" any black people. I don't believe he needed to. Back to my first point...do you think white rappers are racially insensitive?

Two people can both use good

Two people can both use good clear common sense and still disagree on something. All of our presidents have been considerably off base with respect to the Bible, even the few recent born again presidents. Ronald Reagan consulted an astrologer before he made even the smallest decision and George Bush said he believed that Christians, Jews and Muslims all worship the same God. So how far off base with respect to Scripture is too far? A pro-choice stance I presume. I’m quite prepared to give the biblical basis for the pro-choice position and counter all the arguments, Bible based or otherwise, the anti-choice crowd uses to advance their position. The Presbyterian Church (USA), the Episcopal Church, the United Methodist Church, the United Church of Christ, the Unitarian Universalist Association of Congregations, and Reform and Conservative Judaism all have long-standing pro-choice positions. The Bible doesn’t mention abortion anyway, but it does say that governments will be judged based on how they deal with the poor and in the gospels Jesus talks about the plight of the poor more than he does anything else. So I disagree that true born again Christians who want Obama reelected cannot back up their support via Scripture. I’ll be glad to demonstrate how they can.

The real issue with the president that troubles conservative Christian leaders has nothing to do with the Bible and that is what they call “big government.” To them President Obama represents big government. But what does big or more properly, strong government really mean? Conservatives have convinced their supporters that this means the government wants to intrude into and control their personal lives among other things. This is a most hypocritical statement to make considering their stance on abortion rights. Conservative Christians envision and desire a society where the government is weak and the churches are strong. Unfortunately there has never been such a society that wasn't filled with intolerance, repression, and violence. It is the power and scope of the government that creates alternatives and opportunities that make it easier for people to escape the power and influence of churches and religion. This is the real reason Christian leaders oppose big government. Government welfare allows people to avoid relying on church handouts. Civil marriages allow people to avoid having to marry in a church. Government hospitals reduce reliance on Church supported hospitals. Public schools allow people to avoid relying on church schools and church indoctrination. Government social services allow people to avoid being put under the authority of priests and ministers in order to survive. It’s important for people to understand the true motivation behind the opposition to a strong government. It’s dishonest for politicians and religious leaders to gain supporters for their cause by distorting the true nature of what having a strong government actually means to a society. We end up with a badly misinformed public. Politicians will make better decisions when there is informed public debate on the issues. All the rhetoric from the far right prevented that from happening with the current health care legislation hence we have all the misinformed people on both sides of the isle that you talked about.

scratch that

Actually scratch what I said about the Bible because I am doing my best to convince you and even myself that the Bible is wrong, but it's not working. I really don't know what I'm talking about.

April fools?

You missed April fools by a day, my friend :)

Anonymous After the fairly

Anonymous
After the fairly recent shootings of Dr. Tiller and the guard at the Holocaust museum by fringe fundamentalist Christian nuts I highly doubt there are any Christian radio show hosts that appreciate getting a call like the one Steve and his guest got last Saturday. I’m not sure how you can blame Steve for that one. These shows have people who answer the phone and screen the calls and ask the callers what they’re going to say. The problem is the callers often lie to the screener because if they told them what they really had in mind they know they wouldn’t get on the air. Or they get on the air, get nervous and forget what they were going to say and blurt out something really stupid, which is my guess as to what happened with the call in question. A while prior to that call Steve had said there were a bunch of morons in the studio that day but I’m willing to bet whoever took that call had no idea some nut case was going to suggest assassinating the president. How do you know that caller wasn’t an Obama supporter posing as a right wing Christian trying to make them all look bad? You don’t.

As the resident critic on this blog I have to tell you that unless you can make legitimate criticisms of the show and Steve you’ll have to leave the critiquing to Boris. That is unless you want me deconstructing your posts too. I have a real legitimate complaint about something that was said on the show. Steve’s guest Molotov Mitchell blamed the rise of the KKK on the Democratic Party. Of course he didn’t bother to mention that the KKK hasn’t supported the Democratic Party for decades and that the KKK has always required its members to be Bible believing Christians and does to this day. Is it fair to blame a political party or a religion because a particular fringe group has perverted their ideologies? The Democratic Party is no more or less to blame for the rise of the KKK than Christianity is. The rise of the KKK can be blamed on ignorance.

To most people except those on the far right the rap video will be perceived as offensive and possibly racist. So it isn’t a good vehicle for advertising the OTP movement to moderates and people on the fence about the current administration. Things like this are divisive and polarizing. It doesn’t offend my sensibilities but I know how thin-skinned most other people are. There are some pretty fair critiques of this video on the Internet.

I wish you Anonymous people would use a name so we know how many people we're talking to here.

I don't blame Steve Noble

I don't blame Steve Noble for what that guy said. I just want him to understand that not all Christians are right wing nut jobs.

define that

Please define for me what a "right wing nut job" is.

No, figure it out yourself.

No, figure it out yourself.

The video in question

I dissagree with you Boris, I believe the only people who will view this video as racist are the same ones that view any critisism of Obama as racially motivated.
The video does prove that white people should not rap, we just can't pull it of well. The video was probably done on a tight and tiny budget, so it is somewhat cheesey. As is the lyrical content, however much that content is true and timely. I whole heartedly agree with the message in the lyrics and think that given the topics covered; Molotov and his crew done an excellent job. I look forward to their next one.

Jollymon, Your comment that

Jollymon,
Your comment that white people should not rap is not only racist it is disproved by the white rappers who have made millions of dollars. However I’m willing to attribute that comment to your ignorance of the subject matter rather than racism if you are. Your post of Sat, 03/27/2010 - 2:31pm just reeks of the kind of cultural prejudice so common among Bible believers. Racism is just one form of prejudice. Religious prejudice is no less despicable. You said: “The difference between Bush and Obama is that Bush is a born again Christian and Obama is... well he is not.” This polarizing us against them attitude that believers are somehow morally superior to other people is a great example of the narrow-minded bigotry that is so prevalent among Bible thumpers. Crime statistics, abortion statistics, divorce statistics, prison statistics among many other things prove that Bible believers are clearly morally and ethically inferior to the rest of the population. Evangelicals get divorces and abortions at a rate 50 percent higher than the national average. The percentage of Christians in the prison systems is higher than the percentage of Christians in the general population. Child and spousal abuse is much more prevalent in evangelical households and studies show that the stricter a family holds to their beliefs the more likely there will be abuse in the family.

Born-again Christian George Bush invaded two countries that did not provoke us in any way and is responsible for the deaths of hundreds of thousands of innocent people not to mention the deaths and dismemberment and permanent disabilities of tens of thousands of our own troops. I visited a VA hospital recently and was horrified at all the dismembered soldiers just back from Iraq that I saw, victims of George Bush’s holy war against Islam. I’d like to see you explain how those wars have made our lives any better or safer.

Just because someone is not a born again Christian does not mean they are lost or deceived by the devil. It’s intellectually lazy to not bother to find out why people hold different political or religious views than you do and what they actually are and to instead mindlessly attribute them to some highly implausible supernatural explanation. This keeps you from ever understanding the issues. People like you should NOT vote unless you’re going to do the rest of your civic duties and take the time to study the issues. Whether president Obama should be reelected or not is not part of some invisible cosmic war between good and evil. It’s battle between two competing political ideologies, neither one of which you have a clue about.

Using the devil as an excuse for anything just raises more problems for you. You have no proof that the devil isn’t controlling your thoughts or that the devil did not write the Bible to fool people. After all giving a book the kind of authority you Bible thumpers have is nothing less than having “other gods before me.” Have fun with that. See you in hell.

I don’t think Bible believers realize how offensive the things they say are to thinking people. You said: “As I hate the sin but not the sinner…” You people criminalize the entire population of the world, even children. Let me turn that around for you. I hate the Christianity but not the Christian. How do you like that?

WOW

Just so you know Boris I was raised a racist. I was taught to hate black people because they were black, I know racists and how they think. I ain't one. The first lesson that God taught me when I got saved was that there are only two kinds of people in this world; Them that are going to hell and them that ain't. My comment that white people shouldn't rap may be taken on the surface as a racist statement but in truth it was not meant as an insult but as an observation. I meant no harm. It has been my experience that white people as a whole, with a few exceptions, cannot rap; we are not good at it. I do have some knowledge as I have produced part of a rap album for a local.

The rest of your post Sir, only shows that either you haven't read the Bible or you haven't comprehended it. Christians do not "criminalize the world population", the world population does that to themselves. I am not morally superior to anyone just redeemed, I am still a sinner. Yes I believe that if one does not believe that Jesus died for their sins and rose again the third day that they are going to hell when the die in this life. That is my belief and what I base my morals around. I do not condemn those who don't believe that way; I pray for them.
It is my stance that everyone in this world has the right to go to hell however they choose. The most I can do is share the Gospel of Christ with them and pray for them. I know that there are Christians who condemn and judge those who do not share our beliefs, however I am not one of those.
I base my political stand on the Constitution of this country. That Sir, is as simple as I can put it.
We have wandered far from the original thread and I suppose that was your intention. By putting those who oppose you on the defense you take attention away from the topic art hand which is Obama and a second term.

Steve, I didn’t say the

Steve,
I didn’t say the Bible was wrong. I said it supports the pro-choice position and argues against the anti-choice position and I can prove it. If you say it doesn’t, then you are the one saying the Bible is wrong. The Bible isn’t “wrong” it’s fiction. The people who say it isn’t are wrong.

I am convinced that the so

I am convinced that the so called southern christian conservatives are former and present KKK. Blacks were formely assocated with the party of Lincoln. The southern whites were formely Democrats. When and where did the change take place. KKK claim to be good Americans and christians too. You can't prove by me that Bush was a born again Christian, do not know the man personal.Because a persons view are different from yours, you don't have the right to judge their committment to Christ. check out your own committment.Do you really feel so righteous that you can desern the President's committment. Pray for him. He won the election.

Jollymon, I said your

Jollymon,
I said your comment was racist but it was based on ignorance rather than hate. So like I said, it’s excusable. Ignorance is only not an excuse according to the law, not among friends or acquaintances. I played a little football as a defensive back. How many white guys do you see doing that? What observation would you make about that subject? See, it’s hard to comment on a lot of things without sounding like a racist in this age of political correctness. You were raised a racist? It’s easy to overcome the influence of your parents. Just to let you know I was raised by a Jewish to Christian convert who was also a seminarian and Bible teacher. I was circumcised in the hospital by a doctor and as a child I was baptized and took communion, studied the Bible carefully, even in college, and went to church most Sundays until I was about 14. Yet neither my brother nor I have ever believed in God and have remained lifelong atheists. Obviously I didn’t pay much attention to my parents either.

You said you believe that if one does not believe that Jesus died for their sins and rose again the third day that they are going to hell when they die in this life. That is your belief and what you base your morals around. Fortunately our society doesn’t base its laws on those kinds of morals. We have laws against cruel and unusual punishment in this and most other countries in the world. A punishment such as hell, as it is believed to be in most Christian denominations, certainly falls in the category of cruel and unusual punishment. That means it’s immoral in any sense of the word. I mean what could an unbelieving teenager who died in an accident have done in their short life to warrant eternal punishment may I ask? I wouldn’t say you aren’t morally superior to anyone. I think you may be morally superior to some people and I doubt you’re a sinner in the secular definition of the word, which is the only one that matters to me, or our legal system. I don’t think you’re redeemed or a belief in hell has any redeeming value morally or otherwise unless your goal is to frighten potential converts and keep the flock in line. Hell and the concept of divine eternal punishment were certainly invented by men in order to get other men to follow them blindly.

I base my morals and ethics on critical analysis. I don’t need to be frightened into behaving myself as if I were a small, undisciplined child. I behave morally and do charitable things for my own selfish reasons. Being a good and moral person gets me more and better quality friends, helps me immensely in the business world, gets me respect from the people I meet and adored by my wife and probably most of all makes me feel good about myself and gives me a sense of pride.

It’s ironic and kind of funny to hear or read a Bible believer say they base their political stand on our Godless Constitution which the Court has said guarantees abortion rights and freedom of and from religion. One of the fun things about conversations with Bible believers is pointing out their self-contradictory statements to them.
