Husbands praying with their wives?

Posted on Thursday, Aug 20th, 2009 at 1:09pm by SteveNoble

The vast majority of Christian husbands DO NOT pray with their wives, and NO - giving thanks for the spaghetti & meatballs doesn't count!  On the other hand, the vast majority of Christian wives WOULD LOVE IT if their husbands would pray with them!  What do you think God wants?

Why don't men pray with their wives?  Guys...what do you have to say for yourselves?  Gals...why doesn't your husband take the lead in this?  Let's not bash each other...let's talk about it!

I find it uncomfortable. I

I find it uncomfortable. I was raised that my conversations with God were private.

Prayer with your spouse

Pray and Pray now. I lead the marriage ministry at our church and here are the facts ~50% of Christian marriage fail but only 8% of Christian marriages that pray together on a regular basis fail. Get over it being a private matter. What other matters do you keep from your wife. You are of one flesh and if you do not pray with her why should she think you do not keep other things from her.

Private?

Private prayer is fine, of course...but the Bible is full of examples of public prayer as well. Do you think you sound "stupid"? Thats your pride showing up, and remember: even the Apostle Paul admitted that he was not an eloquent verbal communicator. God looks at your heart and doesn't grade you down because you don't sound like Billy Graham! Also, how do you think it would make your spouse feel? Thanking God for them...praying His blessings on them...seeking His face together as "one flesh"? Try it...you WILL be blessed. And remember - just because you were raised that way doesn't make it right.

Since when does "giving

Since when does "giving thanks for the spaghetti & meatballs" not count?

Let's forget what Jesus said and be more like Steve Noble.

Why not have prayer contests and let Mr. Noble judge?

"So, you want to be a Christian? Let's hear you pray... Uh-huh...um-hmm...yeah, well, that's not good enough, pal. Real Christians make a scene when they pray."

Hypocrisy.

Touch a nerve?

Do you really think giving thanks for a meal qualifies as intimate, meaningful prayer??? All I do is point to Jesus...pointing to myself is just pointing to filthy rags. Do you find all confrontation within the Body of Christ to be "judgmental"? What about Paul? Try reading 1 Cor. chapter 5 and see how his attitude hits you. Perhaps you don't understand speaking the truth in love... Perhaps you were just too angry to listen well, but I actually emphasized the fact that one does NOT need to pray like Billy Graham in order to pray with his wife. I understand the story Jesus told of the two men praying in the temple...one a tax collector and one a Pharisee...do you? Hypocrisy? Nice try...but no. I wonder why you are so upset? Do you dislike any believer that challenges the status quo in the church? Perhaps you prefer a more Joel Osteen-like approach...avoid stepping on toes, even if it means that people end up in hell. I care enough to discuss the subjects most Pastors avoid...and I do it without attacking the people who are listening. I challenge, yes. I confront, yes. I care, yes. I desire a more healthy Body of Christ, yes. I try to speak the truth in love, yes. I don't care if it ruffles feathers. I don't care if you like me or not. I only care that I am being true to the call God has placed on my life. By the way...perhaps you need to spend some more time reading the New Testament. Some pretty tough messages in there, no? Maybe those guys were a bunch of hypocrites as well.

Truth hurts, huh Steve

Truth hurts, huh Steve Noble?

You are the angry one! Get over yourself.

huh?

What am I angry over, exactly? And getting over myself implies self love, of course...so how am I showing that on the show? I'm willing to be rebuked and if necessary I will confess and repent, but if you are a Christian brother at least do me the courtesy of explaining your charges. So far you have just tossed out some insults with no sound reasoning to support them. Willing to listen, are you?

Most men don’t really

Most men don’t really believe in God and only go to church so they can watch sports on Sunday. Oh it's true. Real men don’t believe in Jesus nor do they grovel in front of imaginary deities. And how insane is it to think you can communicate with the supposed creator of the universe whenever you want to anyway? I mean you have to wait hours just to see the dentist or get anything from a government agency.

Real men, huh?

Wow, Boris! I want to be a REAL man like you! Seriously, I like it when you post so believers can see how full blown rebellion against God looks. Thanks for being a great example!

I like when you respond to

I like when you respond to my posts so others can see how poorly thought out your comments on. Why are you in full-blown rebellion against the Almighty Allah Steve? Do you not want to face the fact that Allah is God? Or do you not believe that Allah is God? I don’t believe that Jesus is God or that he ever even existed. So explain to me how I could be in rebellion against your God if you’re not in rebellion against Allah, Islam and the “truth” of the Koran. Your problem is that you cannot face the idea that your God only sends people to hell who don’t know he or hell exists. You have to tell yourself people reject God willingly knowing he exists in order to justify the existence of hell in your mind. Well we don’t know your God or any other God exists Steve. Telling yourself lies to justify the mindless cruelty of your God won’t change that. When you have to lie to yourself to support your religious beliefs you really should sit down and decide if doing THAT is really worth it. What God would punish people for the crime of honest disbelief? Only one invented by men.

No such thing as honest disbelief

Boris, What exactly is honest disbelief? There are Christian missionaries on every part of this world preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ. It is through the hardness of man's heart that he rejects the Truth based on God's Word, The Holy Bible, and because man is deceived into believing that to live according to God's Word is bondage. In actuality, it is freedom from sin and eternal death. I love knowing that God loves me even when I am not practicing good behavior and that I do not have to earn my salvation. Whereas, your god, Allah does not love anyone who does wrong, and you must earn your own salvation. I consider that a burden and a hindrance to obtaining joy, peace and happiness in this life on earth. Without a shadow of a doubt, I choose my Heavenly Father God and Jesus Christ over your god Allah any day.

BTW

BTW ~ Boris, the Qur'an refers to Jesus as a prophet/messenger. If Mohammed acknowledged Jesus' existence in his holy writings (Surah 4:171 - "Jesus ... was only a messenger of Allah"), then why do you profess, "I don’t believe that Jesus ... ever even existed." You may want to study the Qur'an and come to a full understanding of your religious beliefs.

L Hall I'm Boris the

L Hall I'm Boris the Atheist. I'm not a Muslim. Could you not tell I was being facetious in the post directed to Steve? Your lack of perception is what has caused you to fall for the lies of Christianity.

Atheist?

Boris ~ it is not my lack of perception that causes me to believe in Christianity. It's an atheist's lack of proof that Christianity is false that has led me to believe the Truth. Your blog spoke of nothing but Allah so I could only conclude from your own comments that you believed in Allah and not the Heavenly Father God and Jesus. I'm sure there were others who concluded the same based on your comments. BTW ~ Why would you argue for a religion that you do not believe in?
