Should "good Christians" watch R-rated movies?

Posted on Monday, Feb 23rd, 2009 at 9:07pm by SteveNoble

Come on...admit it!  You watch r-rated movies every once in a while, don't you?  You're an adult...you can handle it!  What about historical movies?  The bible spoke about sin...and there are some pretty brutal stories as well!  Are Christians who gripe about r-rated movies just being modern-day Pharisees?  Should we just lighten up...or tighten up?  That's the subject this coming Saturday, Feb. 28th on Called2Action this week!

Don't wait until this Saturday to sound off on the subject...tell us what you think about r-rated movies RIGHT NOW by chiming in on the BLOG!

No way!

No, I don't watch R-rated movies. I hardly go to the theater or watch TV because I will not pay for people to live like Hollywood. As a believer is am responsible how I spend God's money and what goes into my mind.

You have to be kidding me... (O_o)

Yes, you are responsible for how you spend God's money. Passion of the Christ is possibly the best representation of Jesus' sacrifice for us, and if you don't watch it, you are definitely missing out. It's easy to say, "Thanks Jesus for dying for us." but you can't truly appreciate his sacrifice if you don't understand what he went through.

if you think it's a sin for people to weep through the "Passion of the Christ", you're a sick bastard.

Kid's don't...I don't!

The last r rated movie I watched was the Passion of the Christ. My view is if I don't think my kids should watch it I don't watch it, Also, primetime TV is mostly not watched in my house. I think I'm in the minority from what I see in others Facebook profiles.

Your not alone, I agree with

Your not alone, I agree with you.

You are among the few and blessed

I thank God that there are some Christians left that live like Christians ought to, such as yourself. "Christians" today have gone the way of the world. Nothing is out of bounds! So called "Liberty in Christ" reigns! It is refreshing to hear your response. May God continue to bless you and your family as you seek to follow Him closely. You have encouraged me with your comments.

wow im a christian and i

wow im a christian and i disagree with this 100 percent how dare u insinuate that others arent good christians that is not for you to decide i pray that you will learn to let others do what they feel best and not judge them just because they watch a movie that swears i do and i dont swear hardly or just cause i see nudity on movies it doesnt make me want to have sex i cant believe your comments im shock as a fellow christian but GOD bless you :)

Actually...

Actually, the Bible does call us to hold one another accountable. If you see a brother in sin, go to him in love! You seem to fall into a popular trap:challenging anyone on anything is judgmental. if we can't do this in love, then don't do it, but having the discussion on the air or on a blog is actually healthy. Besides, the Bible commands us to think on certain things...nudity and course language don't make the list.

what tempts you?

i am personally a huge fan of movies and making videos is my greatest passion. i see nothing wrong with watching a movie that is rated r if it doesn't tempt you. for example, i can watch movies that are rated r for language and not at all be tempted to repeat what i hear (probably because i've heard it all my life - be it at school, work, or wherever). some people can't watch those same movies without being tempted to swear. in the end, i think we have to know what tempts us and make sure not to put more temptation than we already face into our lives.

Chuck Crismier tells us that

Chuck Crismier tells us that 70 per cent of Christian men and about 37 per cent of Christian have an addiction to Internet porn. Obviously Jesus is not the answer to everything.

Who said they are living the

Who said they are living the Christian life? Jesus' life style is the answer but they may not choose to live it. Just sayin. Many Christians claim it but don't really adhere to it and thusly they aren't really "Christian" at least not what they are suppose to be. Cheers.

It really depends on subject matter...

Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. -Phil. 4:8 But each person is tempted when he is lured and enticed by his own desire. -James 1:14 I think both of these verses show pretty well that our thoughts have either the power to lift us up or bring us down. That being said, there are things that tempt me and things that do not. For me, profanity isn't much of an issue in the sense that I am not tempted by it. I don't care to hear it. I myself don't use it. Its use seems rather boring, especially in movies that can't go a sentence without an expletive. Violence is the same. Many studies have tried to link movies, music, or video games to violence. There will always be that 1 in 1000 individual who after watching or listening to a movie/music/video game will commit a crime. Various groups get up in arms and want to prove causation, but there are many other factors besides media which drive individuals to commit crimes of violence. I know when I sit down to watch a movie with violence, that it is not real. It is manufactured. No one in reality has been hurt. Sex and nudity bring about a different response in me, however. My mind does wander and go places it should not go. My thoughts quickly turn to sin. I would not go to that kind of movie, because I know the effect it has on me. I now many godly men who watch rated R movies which contain some violence or profanity. I know of no godly men who watch R rated movies with nudity or sex. I believe it is possible for a godly man or woman to watch an R rated movie and not sin or be caused to sin depending on the subject matter. What does this mean? It means certainly we must be careful that we know what is in a movie (a great resource for this is http://www.pluggedinonline.com/), but I don't believe we have to go to the extreme of never seeing an R rated movie.

I agree, Jeremy

i agree jeremy. i check up on my movies before watching them as well (i use screenit.com)

Thank you Jeremy, this

Thank you Jeremy, this website will help me alot many times there are things in movies that aren't even rated R and I wish I didn't watch it.

I avoid some, but not all...

I avoid movies with sex and nudity, but movies with violence like Saving Private Ryan don't bother me. I refuse to watch movies with unnecessary violence such as the SAW series. A limited amount of profanity doesn't bother me, my roommate swears 10x worse than any movie I have seen anyways. So yes, I watch some Rated-R movies, but I am careful about content. Watch sin but not be sinning yourself???

In the world not of the world, I say come as you are not stay as you are I do not see how if you are born again you can be carbon copies of the world and say Im going to be intertained by sin while not sinning What ? I used to drink and go to bars but whenI became a follower of Christ I did not continue to go to bars and jusy have a soda. If Jesus was on earth right now would you tell him lets go watch a movie with what defiles a man is what comes out of his mouth and be intertained. Im not your judge and you will not be standing before me on judgment day but I think you are going to have a hard time giving an answer for delighting in filth and say well I did not sin.

if jesus was on earth i

if jesus was on earth i think he may surprise us all where he would go. he was always surrounding himself with sinners (gamblers, prostitutes, etc) and people that were the rejected. i think it would be no great leap of faith to think he would be near the strippers, gamblers, alcoholics, drug addicts, prostitutes of today and where they associate themselves.
now should we immerse ourselves in that society? by no means. i do agree with you that we should not "delight in filth," but i think we can be around it and not "delight in it." we are the light of the world & light shines in darkness.

I agree with Jeremy

I completely agree with Jeremy and Chris. As men, violence and profanity seem to affect our everyday lives a lot less than viewing sex and nudity. Although viewing anything violent or profane is not a good thing, I would not categorize viewing a movie with violence as being sinful. I would say that choosing to sit in a movie with vulgar speech is close to, or a sin itself.

I'm confused anout "what defiles a man..."

john - could you please explain this statement, it confused me: "what defiles a man is what comes out of his mouth and be intertained" regardless of what you meant or how i interpreted your comment, that verse is pretty much what jeremy, nate, and i were talking about. matthew 15:11: "What goes into a man's mouth does not make him 'unclean,' but what comes out of his mouth, that is what makes him 'unclean.' " continuing with my previous example, watching a movie with swearing in it does not make me 'unclean' as Jesus put it. what comes out of my mouth is what makes me unclean. check out the second part of matthew 24:34: "For out of the overflow of the heart the mouth speaks." if watching a movie with swearing begins to affect my heart (which is seen outwardly by what comes out of my mouth), then i should not be watching movies with swearing. the same goes for violence and other things that are found in movies. i do, however, still agree with jeremy in that sex and nudity is a different story. sex is something that God has intended for a man and his wife and no one else. i don't think we need to be seeing any kind of depiction of it onscreen. and while i can't say this with 100% certainty because i'm just me and no one else...i really don't see how a man can watch something like that and not be tempted or have it not affect his heart. as for the following comment: "I do not see how if you are born again you can be carbon copies of the world and say Im going to be intertained by sin while not sinning" i personally am not entertained by swearing, and i don't know anyone (Christian or not) who is. as for the violence in movies, (i'm gonna steal what jeremy said here): "I know when I sit down to watch a movie with violence, that it is not real. It is manufactured. No one in reality has been hurt." i really enjoyed the movie the dark knight. it is one of my favorite films. there is a lot of violence in this movie, but i know that none of it was real. if there really was someone like the joker who was going around terrorizing a city somewhere, i would NOT sit and watch him do so for entertainment. watching a movie with violence in it for entertainment and watching the same violent actions depicted in the movie play out for real are two different things. however, regardless of our opinions, we each have our own convictions. if you choose not to watch any movies with an r rating or primetime tv, that is your decision and Christians who don't agree with you should not judge you for that. in the same way, those of us who do not see an issue with it have made our decision, and Christians who disagree with us should not judge us for it. thanks for taking the time to talk with us.

Called to live a Godly life !

I want to know just how far doe's someone have to go before sin bothers you ? when I was lost I enjoyed someone telling a dirty joke but not now if it bothers King Jesus it bothers me. Would you sit in a church when the pastor would curse and use the Lords name in vain like we seen in the news ? I mean you heard it before and your not tempted to repeat it! Lets look at Job 1:1 He feared God and stayed away from evil. Godliness is the practice of the presence of God in all we are and do, WE would do good to fear God and stay away from evil.Read 2 Peter 1:5-11 we are called to moral excellence and Godliness. Lets look at what King Jesus said in Luke 17 verse 32 Remember what happened to lots wife! When fleeing Sodom she turned back and was turned into a pillar of salt that sounds like not fit for the kingdom to me! It seems to me that she did not take part of this sin but she did not want to leave it. We are in the darkness or we are in the light their is no fellowship with light and darkness.

Zeal for King Jesus !

I would like to recommed a book The Purity Principle Gods safeguards for lifes dangerous trails. And please dont look back on sin like Lots wife did. I pray that you would Have a Zeal for King Jesus and not speak up for the intertainment value of sin.

wow. so according to you,

wow. so according to you, john, me and my friends that have posted are a) not born again Christians ("I do not see how if you are born again you can be carbon copies of the world and say Im going to be intertained by sin while not sinning") and b) do not have a zeal for Jesus ("Where is your Zeal is it for the sin of the world or is it for King Jesus?" and "I pray that you would Have a Zeal for King Jesus and not speak up for the intertainment value of sin.") you don't even know us, and yet you have written us off as pagans with no love for God but for sin because we watch movies that have a rating that is determined not by God but by a committee of men - most of them probably unsaved. you have claimed that you are not judging us but the posts that followed have shown the opposite. do you really think that when we all get to heaven (because my friends and i are going) that Jesus is gonna look at people who didn't watch any r rated movies as any more holy or righteous than those of us who did? as i mentioned to you before, we all have our own convictions. you do not watch r rated movies because you do not agree with the content. we, on the other hand, have different convictions. no one's judging you for yours, so please stop judging us for ours.

I'm not your judge

Let me make what I said clear Im not your judge was in refrence to the final judge I can not know your heart but I can judge your actions. Saying that we have diffrent convictions I dont understad, God has a set of laws that do not change God said I am Holy theirfore be Holy. I never claimed to be sinless I sin just like everyone does but when you do wrong and try to defend that it is called self justification. I know that some people say we agree to diagree I say that one of us is wrong and we need to pray and see who it is.

John, I want to clear things up

john, i want to clear some things up before signing off on this conversation. as Christians, we should not argue about minuscule things such as watching movies with a certain rating. what matters in the end is that Christ has washed us clean with His blood and we are going to spend eternity in heaven with Him. i want to let you know now not to be offended if you respond and i don't. i am not going to allow this to turn into an argument for the reasons stated above and i apologize if it has already become an argument. that was not my intention. now, to clear up a few things. like i said before, i am a Christian. therefore, i understood what you meant when you were talking about the final judgment. i never said or insinuated that you claimed to be sinless. i apologize if it seemed like that was what i was insinuating. "I know that some people say we agree to diagree I say that one of us is wrong and we need to pray and see who it is." as i've been saying, i don't think either of us is wrong. each person has his or her own convictions (paul talks about this, although i don't remember where at the moment). at that, i will leave this conversation. again, please don't be offended if i don't respond. if this was something Scripturally essential (divinity of Christ, the existence of the Trinity, etc), i might continue. but it isn't. thanks again for joining me in this discussion. i will keep you in my prayers. chris

Not offended at all

Not offended at all Chris and not an argument as Steve stated above this has created a great conversation on this hot topic. Your Brother John.

Sad

Why would you allow yourself to watch a movie of a unsaved person and think it is ok?

violence not always bad...

"I avoid movies with sex and nudity, but movies with violence like Saving Private Ryan don't bother me. I refuse to watch movies with unnecessary violence such as the SAW series. A limited amount of profanity doesn't bother me, my roommate swears 10x worse than any movie I have seen anyways. So yes, I watch some Rated-R movies, but I am careful about content. www.pluggedinonline.com = Another Good Christian Site That Reviews Media"

well...

If you can't watch anything R-rated, you could not watch a movie that accurately depicts scripture. I think the question is deeper than this question of the Pharisees. Paul says all things are permissible but not all things are profitable. The real question is your heart, not where some agency draws the line. Are you entertained by evil or is it part of a larger story being told? Did you enjoy The Passion? I did not, but ii am glad I saw it. I have seen some r movies that are well worth watching, like (yes I will name some) When a Man Loves a Woman, The Patriot and yes, Saving Private Ryan. The violence and profanity are part of the representation of evil around us. If you think it is cool watching people die, you have a problem, but if you watch it, are horrified by it and therefore work toward the good, is that wrong? How could we know the horrors of the Holocaust without all those old Nazi films? Does the History Channel (much of which would be R if rated) make you want to be a Nazi or make you want to resist that kind of societal impulse. This is an artificial line that smacks of the Pharisees. Examine your heart and it will discern.

Joy in visualizing sin?

I have a hard time enjoying watching sin. Maybe it's the Spirit inside of me. I decided a long time ago to stop watching the movies that are rated PG-13 and R. I am not a legalist and I did go to see the Passion of the Christ and The End of the Spear. Any other PG-13 or R rated movies I have seen, I regret putting it into my mind. pluggedinonline.com has been very helpful to me. If I want to be moved by historical events, I would rather read first hand accounts than to watch a movie on it that has been altered to make it entertaining.

I teach my children the verse that says, "Do not be deceived, bad company corrupts good morals" 1 Cor. 15:33

I live by the same. It is not good to keep bad company or your morals will suffer. I believe this includes keeping company with movies laden with sin. I will teach my children what I believe. I will follow my conscience on this. It is a decision not on the R rating of MAN, but on the value of the joy in my spirit.

Amen 2 that!

I so agree with you. My family and I actually get persecuted for not watching certain rated movies, and it's by Christians! I also teach my kids the same thing, then have to turn around and defend ourselves from other Christians remarks and weird looks, like there is something mentally wrong with us! It's so sad and these are the same people that say we shouldn't judge? What are they doing to us then??

I'm glad to know there is others out there who agree.

Amen to that twice.

Amen to that twice.

movies are fake, not real life

I watch R rated movies, and it doesnt hurt, except my wifes ears during profanity. I grew up in Chicago so I have heard profanity my entire life. I dont see how watching it is necessarily a bad thing, as long as you dont let children watch adult themed movies. I have to watch my language, cuase I sometimes use profanity that is not good, but that does not make me less loved by God cause I watch r rated movies.

Same

If you allow profanity to be used in front of your wife then it is like those people are cusing your wife. Just because we grew up hearing it dosnt mean that we should continue to listen to it after we follow Christ. How can you watch a movie like that and then tell your children you cant watch it. That is not setting a good example for your children. Your telling them its bad now but when you get older its ok and that is not right! We use profanity because we allow ourselves to hear it and see it.

Yes, you can

I actually recently had the honor of taking my two (older) boys to the movie theatre. As I was standing in line looking at the movie selection I realized the movie we were there to watch was rated R. It did give me pause. However, I still bought the ticket and went in. We went to see Clint Eastwood's latest fare, "Gran Torino". As most things Clint Eastwood the rating was there because of foul language and some violence. However, when it comes out on DVD I intend to give it my support again. Much like Lord of the Rings and The Chronicles of Narnia, God's message was clearly presented, in clothing of reality. I certainly believe we need to ALWAYS be good stewards of all of the resources God has given us and that is why I believe we need to go to the movie houses and support everything that relays God's message--even if it does have an R rating.

R rated movies

This is one of those slippery slopes that Christians should beware of. Honestly, it's amazing how Christians justify how they spend their time and their money in the name of "entertainment". I am amazed atthe number of fellow Christians who are addicted to being entertained - by movie, TV series, or even Facebook. I can barely find time to get to my emails each week, but then I am busy serving my family, church and friends. I believe that our teens blush at nothing anymore and they can watch sex, violence and listen to profanity without flinching. I believe that Oprah and Soap Operas are as dangerous for us as the R rated movies. Isn't it a shame that if it wasn't for Disney, we wouldn't have much in the way of G rated movies? There are Christian movie companies popping up. Check out Adventfilmgroup.com and a movie called "Come What May". And, of course, the Kendrick Bros. "Fireproof". God has called us to be Holy - set apart - as He is Holy. Try spending that money or time doing something fun with your family. Or ask your Pastor if there is something needed for the church or church family. You are right, Steve, about the apathy in the church. It's suffocating at times. Maybe that 2 hours at the movies could be spent in prayer for the church in America. We could sure use it! Kathy

You're drinking poison...

I'm doing a debate for a class and the resolution is that: Christians should not view R-rated movies. Now, I personally agree with this resolution, and thankfully am the aff position...it has been great getting to see what other people think of not watching/watching R-rated movies. I agree with you who believe Chritians really shouldn't watch R-rated movies. I know some say that most r-rated movies are good, except for a little language or violence, but that's WHY the make it R- B/c of that language or violence! Also, many say that they can just tune it out or can handle that kind of stuff, but I like the analogy that says you CAN drink so much poison, it's bad for you and eventually kills you, but you CAN drink some...it's just like r-rated movies, you CAN watch them, and for some of the time, it's okay, but eventually you absorb some of that pollution and start polluting your world too...

Poison Analogy?

Sorry, but I have to disagree with your Poison Analogy. Poison is one of those things that nobody can handle so it's too drastic of an analogy. A way to think about it is that there are some Christians that can better resist some temptations that other Christians just can't handle. I'm guessing that you know some people like that that are pretty strong in their faith. I know some people personally so that's why I feel this way about your poison analogy. Just remember some people can resist better than others. A few biblical examples are Noah, Lot, and Job.

Should Good Christians Watch R-rated Movies?

You have to remember this is Satan's world and he broadcast through the air waves, especially through Hollywood's
media. The difference between the Bible portraying violence and sin is that it is not for entertainment purposes but to enable us to learn from others mistakes. But in R-rated movies, what is glorified is illicit sex, adultery, violence, and all sorts of sin. Do you think you would invite Jesus to go with you to such movies? He said to shun profanity, to flee fornication, to turn the other cheek. Do they do that on films? Think of it. Movies, most the time,
are church services to indoctrine people into the views of the ways of Satan. Starts with a theme song, has another song midway and closes with a song. 2 hours long like a church service. I stopped watching R movies and even am wary of PG-13 movies. Those in the old days didnt have to worry about movies, life was a movie!

It's about content, not rating.

In listening to the show, I was searching to hear biblical precedence either way. Unfortunately for the most part, there was no scriptural reference at all. It must be remembered that God's word is His word of redemption. So the objective of God's word is to bring us more and more in conformance to the image of Christ. With this in mind, one must grapple with the following text or know that their commitment to scripture is lacking.

1Jo 2:15 Love not the world, neither the things [that are] in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
1Jo 2:16 For all that [is] in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.

Jam 4:4 Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.

MOVIES.

What would the Lord Jesus Christ think about his sons and daughters, watching the filth from un-holywood?
People cursing in his precious name talking and acting like the people from sodom gomorrah. Does anyone think he would think it's ok? Does it not make your skin crawl when people violently curse using God's Holy name? Do you think that the Lord is up in heaven watching a movie that some homosexual atheist has made, is it not an abomination to him?
When we are standing at the judgement seat of Christ, will we be ashamed of the thing's we have called entertainment?
Would you do the thing's in the films, or are they sin and so you would not do them? If the answer to the last question is, Of course we wouldn't do such sinful thing's, then why are you taking pleasure in the people that are doing them?

We all sin, but if the Lord Jesus Christ would not do something, then shouldn't we also try not to do it.

I can't understand how we can sit around watching unholy filth that is poluting our very souls and not feel greived, if you don't feel greived, it is time to check your salvation, or get down before God and repent of your behaviour and say you are sorry for greiving his Holy Spirit, who has had to go to the movies with you.

I don't believe a person can lose their savation btw, just that some people are not saved at all. I'm not pointing fingers at anyone btw.

MOVIES.

Sorry, I forgot to add Scripture to my last post.
I will set no wicked thing before mine eyes: I hate the work of them that turn aside; it shall not cleave to me. Psalm 101:3.

Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God. 2 Corinthians 7:1.

But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness. 2 Timothy 2:16.

And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. Romans 12:2.

We need to wake up and come out of the world, they can't tell the difference between us and them anymore.
If I have offended anyone, it was not my intention, but if I have ask yourself this question, is it a guilty conscience, or are you so desensitised, that you can't tell the difference between what is Holy and unholy anymore?
With much love in Christ, your sister, Rachel.

Right on, Rachel.

Wow, Rachael, I was going to add some of the very verses that you did.

Content

It's really not about the rating--its about the content. As Christians we should want nothing to do with evil, and by buying tickets we are supporting the content and actors/actresses in the movie. and allowing more filth to be made. Romans 1:28-32 says:
"Furthermore, since they did not think it worth-while to retain the knowledge of God, he handed them over to a depraved mind, to do what ought not to be done. They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed, and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice. They are gossips, slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; the invent ways of doing evil; they are senseless, faithless, heartless, ruthless; although they know God's righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them"
I am completely offended when in movies they use our sweet Lords name in vain; it should be offensive to every Christian to hear our Lord and saviors name use w/ a swear word or just plainly in vain. Also, as Christians we should not be "used" to hearing cursing and think its ok to watch people commit violent acts, and fornication right before our very eyes.
1st Timothy 4:1-2 says: "The spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith ad follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons. Such teachings come through hypocritical liars whose consciences have been seared as with a hot iron" We should not choose to hear cursing, and see sexual situations and violence. I try to always ask myself before going to a movie "If possible, would I ask Jesus to accompany me to this movie?" Would he approve? What Jesus thinks should be more important than what I want to do. "deny thy self" Set a good example for others.

questionable movies

I have to admit to having watched many r rated movies since i repented and began my walk with Christ. Scripture says that God will not live in a dirty house and our bodies are temples of God. So, this issue about what i should not be watching on TV has troubled me for years. I admit that i am sometimes embarrassed at what i see on TV and hope that no one finds out.

One problem is that many movies that has been made in the past 40 years and that have any substance are R rated to get a profitable rating. Often this is just one glimpse of nudity that could have been left out. There are some fine dramas that captivate me, but I would not watch with anyone more than my wife. However, even with her i often feel guilty, knowing that our church would not condone this behavior.

On the other hand, she'll daily watch and laugh at sit-coms without any guilt suggesting illicit sex in every episode.
Maybe TV sit-coms need to be rated too? Scripture says that a fool laughs at sin.

Sometimes I would gladly give up TV altogether, but I would have to go through a seperation to do so.

In the eyes of God

When one considers the myriad of sin and filth contained and glorified within most 'R' rated films: Fornication, adultery, sexual deviations, lust, physical murders, murders of the heart (hatred), lying, thievery, profanities and blasphemes, brutality, drug and alcohol abuse, etc. etc. etc. How can the Christian who supposedly LOVES Christ and ought to HATE what He hates, even begin to think that he/she can watch slickly packaged SIN that God absolutely DESPISES and consider it acceptable before Him? Only rationalization, justification and a low view of the Holiness of God, would allow a Christian to engage in such activities. Can a man take fire into his bosom and not be burned? Absolutely NOT!! Viewing sinful movies that can replay again and again in the mind? May it NOT be so!! We ought to GUARD our EYE and EAR gates AGAINST the defilement's of this world system. If you think this is too harsh, I say where is your love of God and His Word?!? Interesting fact: Pastor John MacArthur www.gty.org has never seen an 'R' rated movie in his entire life. Legalism? Not even, but for the love of Jesus Christ who DIED for us so that we might have LIFE!!!

R Rated movies are liked too

R Rated movies are liked too much by current fans of movies. But it also serves a very important purpose of informing the audience about the setting of the narrative. In these kind of movies events of the movie play very important role. Basically, some famous landmarks of the place are used in the establishment shot, to reveal the place where the events unfold. Hangover is the current highly rated movie these days. I wish future most of us spend our time watching movies that are R rated presently.
